Great writing space! I love looking at these posts, they really inspire me in creating my own writing space. I was wondering would you happen to know who the artist is of the painting/print hanging above April’s desk? Thanks!!
Taryn, it’s an original painting. The artist is the same brilliant Illinois girl who’s behind the art on my website–her name is Felicia Olin. Here’s a link to the deviant art page for the painting if you’d like to order a print: http://flea-sha.deviantart.com/art/Annabel-Lee-176557799
Thank you! I cannot wait for your book to come out!!! =)
I love that bookshelf! I’m often crouching down to look at books on the bottom shelf so the way it tilts makes it perfect!
I can’t WAIT for this book!
Love the art work on the wall, and the patterns on the chairs.
GORGEOUS!! I love all the mood lighting, and that painting on the wall is fantastic!
That painting is so hauntingly beautiful. Love the bookshelves – the slight tilt on the bottom shelf is such a good idea!
I have two of these tall, amiable, bottom-tilted bookcases–both from the same deceased indie bookstore. Apparently they were made in New York by the person who built the bookcases for Meg Ryan’s The Shop Around The Corner bookstore in You’ve Got Mail.
Those ones we couldn’t see still came with amazing mental images! I have a sudden urge to go gypsy write somewhere….
Gypsy write. Oh, yes. Let’s do it, Peggy.
Oh I seriously want to see those ‘too dark pictures’. I swear, my life is really dark as well. My photos probably wouldn’t turn out either.
I’m SO excited for this book!! I’ve had it marked to-read for a loooong time. Great writing space, April! I do love that red wall. 🙂
Thanks, cait. They say red walls make you go mad. Fingers crossed…
This series is so fun, but I love this post about April’s write space. It pretty much matches what I know about her, haha. Is it okay to say my favorite pic is that last one of the darkness? That caption made me laugh. (I like the dog on the couch one too.)
And um, secret passageway? What? Can I come visit? 🙂
I have three secret passageways, Krispy, but I only use two of them. The third has blood stains on one wall and never leads to the same place twice…
I love your writing space!
Wow, as it turns out I have nothing to say, so I’ll just answer the question. My favorite picture is the first one, because you know that dog is adorable, the painting in the background is awesome, and I love that chair. 🙂
YAY FOR APRIL OMG! April, you already know that I loved your book sooooo much! I’m honored to have read it early – thanks to a fantastic bloggy friend! She let me borrow her ARC. I gave your book to my sister – she legit said, “I can’t believe April is a debut author!” Meaning, she expected you to have a billion contracted books because your book was so insanely good, that anything you write would be contracted IMMEDIATELY.
I agreed with her 😉
I love your Edward Gorey picture! There one of his pictures that’s a snail with the head of a fish, on a couch… I don’t know what it’s called. I like that one! The juxtaposition is freaky cool.
Anyway. Thank you for the very cool post and giveaway! I already pre-ordered your book, but nothing beats SIGNED STUFF! 😀
*huggles April*
Alyssa, I like your sister. Also, you. Also, this: http://artobserved.com/2012/06/new-york-domenico-gnoli-paintings-1964-1969-at-luxembourg-dayan-through-june-30th-2012/ Scroll down…the fish-snail is not Gorey actually, but Domenico Gnoli, who is also very odd and cool.
I can not wait til Between the….. comes out. I love this website BTW!
All of these pictures are so dark and lovely 🙂 The atmosphere belongs to gothic lit, where romantic and creepy dreams happen under the lamplight in the dead of the night! No wonder April could write such a morbidly gorgeous book!
So excited for BtD&tDBS <3 I'm probably going to cry when I touch that pretty cover 🙂
I love the second pic with Finn sitting on the desk. Love that artwork, too.
I want to read this book sooooo bad!
Your writing space (especially the parts not pictured…) sounds amazing. And as for your TBR pile- or what I can see- it looks like you’re all set for great and productive writing! Plus I’ve always wished for a secret passage to a library, so you’re writing space is practically my dream.
For my write anything comment: I’ve been telling anyone within earshot how absolutely amazing the Starcrossed trilogy by Josephine Angelini is! It could just be because I have a huge obsession with Greek mythology, but I couldn’t put any of these books down!
(And this concludes my public service announcement. Carry on.)
I love, love, love that patterned chair. It’s gorgeous, and I want one! Great pictures!
Wow, I can really picture that wine cellar where you plot the death of your characters 😉 Anyway, the girl in the painting looks so sad, is it because of the coyotes? Why does she look so forlorn?
i really like your paisley chair. i’m attracted to paisley patterns. and you have a secret passage?! that’s freakin’ awesome 😀
I love the picture of the paisley chair and the red wall. It looks so cozy. It’s my kind of reading corner. Thanks for the awesome giveaway! 🙂
Such a lovely space! Though I’m presently a student and, as a result, don’t really have a dedicated writing space, I’d love to have somewhere half as nice as this…secret passageways included. 🙂
